Camera Insurance FAQs

Do I need worldwide cover included in my camera insurance?

No, you don’t have to include worldwide cover in your camera insurance if you don’t intend to travel outside of the United Kingdom. However, if you take your photography equipment abroad, you need to make sure your insurance policy covers you for this. We can extend your policy to include travel cover for your photoshoots outside the UK.

If I need to make a claim due to accidental damage (e.g. liquid damage), does my camera insurance cover include any costs to hire in alternative equipment while my claim is being dealt with?

Yes, provided that your accidental damage cover has a valid claim, our policies include a sum for replacement hire which is noted on your policy schedule. This cover will provide you with a replacement camera (and/or associated equipment) so when you provide detail of your claim to our claims team, please let us know this information as well.

How much excess is payable when I claim?

The standard excess for claims under the equipment cover section is £250. On occasion, this may be altered by the insurer if there are any unique circumstances but don’t worry, this will always be noted on your policy schedule.

Can I pay in monthly instalments or do I need to pay annually?

It’s up to you – you can pay for your camera insurance cover using either monthly payments or paying an annual premium.

I'm looking to buy camera insurance and need to arrange instant cover, how quickly can I do this with you?

We understand you may need to take out camera insurance at short notice so we make it easy. You can get your camera covered within minutes today using our online system. Simply head here to protect your camera now.

When do I get a copy of my policy documents?

When you get a quote you will get a copy of your quotation documents, including the policy wording so you can review your camera insurance cover. Once you go ahead with your insurance, your documents will be provided instantly online.

Can I insure my mobile phones under my Photoshield camera insurance policy?

Unfortunately, we cannot cover your mobile phone as part of your camera insurance cover, so you will need to insure your mobile phones separately. You can usually include this within a home insurance policy, under the contents insurance section or you can insure this with a gadget insurance provider.

Is Public Liability insurance cover included within my camera insurance?

Yes, you can choose to include Public Liability insurance within the same policy as you cover your camera. However, this would be covered by a different section of the policy to your camera equipment section. You can find more information on Public Liability insurance here.
