It’s not all about you…

With Christmas grotto photo sets, parties and events or winter weddings, photographers call on friends, colleagues and freelancers to fill in the gaps. A two-week gig in-store or at a garden centre, sales with a stand in a shopping mall, second shooter needed for a big wedding – and with this comes a risk.

You have professional indemnity and public liability insurance. But what if you hire someone who is not an employee?

First check if they have the same level of insurance as you do. If they do not, get it in place or make sure your own photo business insurance is set up to cover operators (who may need to be qualified), sales staff and assistants.

Check to ensure that you are covered not just for liability to the public, but to the venues you work in – a hotel or mall may be fully covered already if you have a contract to allow you to work there. But they may not.

Here, Photoshield can advise you and help get all the insurance you need for the lively and unpredictable parties, events, promotions and occasions you may photograph during the party and festive season to come. Check your diary dates and check your cover now!
